I admit to being a bit torn up by Medium's TOS, and their attempts to pacify writers with what amounts to little more than lip service changes in response to the uproar. I just don't get it! While I feel like I've found a solid community in Illumination - and a few other publications - that sense has started to wane when it comes to the Medium overlords. If the sense of community disappears because the Medium lawyers want language in the TOS that maximizes Medium's rights at the expense of the content creator's rights, then the umbrella just got blown inside out by the wind. It used to feel like Medium was protecting all of us - publishers, readers and writers. The entire community was covered. I just don't understand why they are deciding this is the best course of action when it so clearly violates the trust that's been built up for years. Can anyone explain it to me?
