Life After Writing on Medium

My Amazon KDP Journey, Part One

Six Months In: 47 No/Low Content Titles, 3 Higher Content Titles, Over $800 Profit (not including January, 2022,)

By the beginning of April, 2021, I found myself completely fed up with all the platform pivots, algorithm updates, and other dispiriting changes Medium was tossing at me.

Though I had managed to attract more than 1200 followers in about 8 months, my per-story reads plummeted almost overnight when Medium adjusted the algorithm. My Medium income, which was never substantial (my best month was a paltry $24.71), but that had increased steadily over the previous five months, nose-dived.

I was disappointed, and a bit disillusioned. Alright, I was more than disappointed and disillusioned. I was angry too.

Why?

Because I had invested a huge amount of time and energy into producing different kinds of content for Medium, with the belief that this effort would pay off in terms of a growing readership AND a slow but steady growth in revenue from the stories I was producing.
